Volunteers Hello! London BiFest is on Saturday June 23rd and we're looking for volunteers - to be on the registration desk, to help set up and tidy up, to be welcoming faces to new people and, potentially, to help run sessions*. If you're interested in any or all of the above, please comment or email info@london.bifest.org - helping out is an easy way to contribute to your community and a great way to meet new people. (Disclaimer: not volunteering is fine too. We promise we will not throw soft fruit at people who do not respond to this message. However, if you do volunteer we will provide effusive gratitude and possibly sweets. Please note that London BiFests can go down as well as up.) | | Monday, May 21st, 2012 | 2:43 pm [yoyoangel]

London BiFest - 23rd June 2012 UPDATE
This year's London BiFest is now an all-day event. London BiFest is a one-day event for bisexuals and bi-friendly people at Resource for London on Holloway Road, on Saturday 23rd June. Join us if you’re bisexual or interested in bisexuality – maybe you have a bisexual friend or relative or partner, maybe you’re curious, maybe you’re just interested in talking about bi issues. Whatever the case, we’d love to see you for a day of discussions and socialising. There’ll be sessions on topics such as Intro to Bisexuality, How Bi is Bi?, trans issues and bisexual health. We’ll have a craft corner and a reading corner as well as space for hanging out, so if you’re nervous about meeting people, we promise you’ll have things to do. We’re also hoping to provide some information on UK bi history, since this year marks the 40th anniversary of the UK’s first known bisexual gathering. The event runs from 10am to 5pm with a break for lunch (which we don’t provide, sorry!) and the full day will cost £10 for waged or £5 for unwaged or you can attend half a day for £5 waged, £2.50 unwaged. No proof of unwaged status is necessary. In summary: * Event: London Bifest 2012, a one-day gathering for bisexual and bi-friendly people * Venue: Resource For London, 356 Holloway Road London N7 6PA * Website: london.bifest.org or find us on Facebook * Twitter: @LondonBiFest * Email: info@london.bifest.org * Cost: full day £10 (£5 unwaged); half day £5 (£2.50 unwaged) And for your evening entertainment: Shenanigans club night (link is to Facebook event) is the official London BiFest after-party, offering the cut-rate £3 entry price to anyone with a BiFest program on the night. | | Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 | 9:05 pm [yoyoangel]

Oxford Bifest 2012 - would you like to help?
Hello all, Oxford Bifest 2012 is coming up on 31st March. It's at the East Oxford Community Centre from 11am to 11pm. It's aimed at bisexual and bi-friendly people and their friends and allies. Tickets will be £5 and the event will run from 11am to 11pm. After 6.30pm there will be a disco. There's a Facebook event here if you like that sort of thing. The event is open to over 18s (because there's a bar). We would like to run some group sessions - could be discussions, workshops, activties, all sorts of formats are fine (I'm calling them all 'workshops' for the purpose of this message, though!). The venue has two spaces - one will be for workshops and one will be for general social space/everything else, so only one workshop will run at a time. I've lined up 5 slots of 45 minutes each, between 11.30am and 6.30pm (long lunch break in there, and I'm scheduling 15-minute changeover periods in case things overrun). We'd really like to include some basic 'bisexual community 101/finding other bisexuals/this is your first bi event' content, so if you feel up for running something like that please please get in touch. Otherwise, please suggest anything you feel is relevant and interesting to potential attendees that you would like to run. If you want to run something but not on your own, let me know and I will see if I can find someone to help you out. Please email me (Lucy) at oxbifestvolunteers@gmail.com to let me know what you'd like to do and we can discuss details. If you would like to help us but don't want to run a session, we could use some help staffing the registration desk and generally being an official Friendly Face. If you'd like to do that, please also let me know on the address above. If you have any questions or comments, please let me know! Thanks! Lucy (P.S. Apologies if you see this message elsewhere - I want to get the word out as widely as possible!) | | Monday, October 4th, 2010 | 4:44 pm [artremis]

Do you have any photos of Brighton Events?
Brighton BothWays is 7 years old this month which we are very proud about. We're waning to put together a picture history of the group and so i was wondering if any of you have photos of any Brighton events including our BiFests? If you do have pictures to share please get in touch either here or by emailing info@brightonbothways.org.uk And if you can check with anyone in the picture if they would be happy for us to put it online that would be great (otherwise we can just collect pictures in an virtual album for group members and other known people) I don't out our regular group events up here every month because i think that would get boring for non-locals. But if you are ever in the Brighton area guests are very welcome: We have a Talky Space on the first thursday of each month 6:30-8:30pm (the first half hour is reserved for newcomers the everyone is welcome from 7pm) at Friends Meeting House, Ship Street, Brighton BN1 1AF our CoffeeMeet on the second saturday every month 3-5pm at the Red Roaster Coffee House, 1D St James’s Street, Brighton BN2 1RE and our Pub Meet is on the fourth thursday, 7-10pm at Church Street Bar 112 Church Street, Brighton, East Sussex, BN1 1UD Current Mood: geeky | | Thursday, April 1st, 2010 | 3:27 pm [cheshcat]

Thank YOU from Oxford BiFest We are delighted to say that 83 people turned up for Oxford BiFest and we have been flooded with positive feedback for our event. Thank you to everyone who turned up – your participation was key to our success! Since our costs were covered and the venue was happy with us, it looks extremely likely that there will be an Oxford BiFest 2011! Hooray!
We are also pleased to announce that our raffle earned £75 for BiCon’s Helping Hand Fund. Thank you to all who donated items and bought tickets!
Thank you dr_jen for securing our venue. Thank you to uberredfraggle for offering accommodations and sorting Reception. Thank you to all the volunteers who sat at Reception and played gopher for us! Oxford BiFest: A First Look!
Greetings... and congratulations to everyone who made Brum BiFest such a success! I, for one, had a fantastic time! I know that plans for the various 2010 BiFests are still up in the air but, at the moment, the next listing on BiFest.org takes place in the City of Dreaming Spires! Brought to you by the Oxford Bi Group, the Oxford BiFest will be taking place on Saturday March 27 th, from 11:00 to 23:00. Located at the spacious Oxford University Club, there will be parallel workshops during the day, a disco at night... and optional tours of our fair city[*] on the next day for those who want to make a weekend of it! Information can be found on the Oxford BiFest website. Additionally, here is our publicity flier: (Click to enlarge and download -- or use the two-sided version!)Whilst all members of the bi community are -- of course -- quite welcome, we are trying to focus our publicity efforts on outreach to new people, both in the Oxford area and elsewhere! If you know anyone curious, please do feel free to pass on the link or show them a copy of the flier! Looking forward to seeing you in Oxford in 2010! Cheers, Nomad (on behalf of the full Oxford BiFest Organising Team) [*] All plans are tentative at the moment, but there are two [free] guided tours being planned for the Sunday: One will visit the wealth of local museums, the other will be a walking tour of the city. Bi parenting
Pleased to report that the first bi/alt parenting meetup yesterday went well - we had 9 adults and 6 kids in all, I think, it didn't rain, and Coram's Fields was as good as I remembered. It would be a good place to meet again, especially over the summer. If you were there, thank you! If not, why not come to the Bi Family Picnic after Pride on July 4th - about 3pm in St James' Park off the Mall, look for the purple. All welcome, as long as you're child-tolerant. Diversity
As some of you will remember, we had diversity feedback forms at London BiFest this year as well as holding a diversity panel. There will at some point be written-up minutes for the panel, but in the meantime, here are the results of the questionnaire: ( Read more... ) | | Wednesday, June 10th, 2009 | 2:02 pm [booklectic]

Family meet
Hi all The first bi/alt family meetup will be on Saturday June 20th at 2pm 1.30pm at Coram's Fields, Guildford Street, London WC1N 1DN. It's a shortish walk from King's Cross, or the nearest tube station is Russell Square. Coram's Fields is a free playground and park with activities for all ages, plus a vegetarian cafe. It's open till 7pm so we should have plenty of time there (not that we'll necessarily stay there till closing). The one constraint on Coram's Fields is that you have to have a child with you to get in. So if you're lacking a child but want to join us, give me an email and arrange to meet us outside. (You can also email if you want my mobile number so you can find us inside.) Hope to see a few people there! If you can't make this one, the next one will be a post-Pride picnic on St James' Park on July 4th - all welcome. Current Mood: parental | | Monday, June 8th, 2009 | 3:05 pm [sanjibabes]

Bi parenting - cross-posted
I'd like to arrange a 'bi parents meet-up' - which would extend to basically anyone bi-friendly who likes kids and wants to come along, but is specifically targeted at bi/alternative parents and their children. The first one will be on Saturday July 4th after the Pride march. Some of us are going on the march (probably with our children) but the Trafalgar Square festival afterwards isn't especially child-friendly, so after the march I suggest that we head to St James Park, which is nearby, and hang out there. I'll post specific time-and-place details later, but this is a heads-up about the plan. I'm also planning a meet-up on Sunday July 19th, details to be arranged. (This is crossposted to drunkmidgets, which is an alt parenting community I created. It hasn't been used much recently but can always be resurrected, so do join if you want to.) |
